Medical visa

Foreigners are subject to entry, stay, and departure limitations imposed by the Indian government. We can help you in getting a medical visa from your country’s embassy or consulate by providing you with the necessary information. The benefit of a medical visa is that you can extend it if you need to while receiving treatment, which is not allowed with a tourist visa (T).

A Medical Attendant Visa (MEDX), which is valid for the same period as the patient’s medical visa, is given to family members and traveling companions of patients who come to India for medical treatment. Please be informed that receiving an organ transplant or receiving treatment for cancer necessitates a medical visa (MED). Foreign nationals staying longer than 180 days, unless their visa clearly specifies otherwise, must register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of their arrival.

Once the hospital’s International Patient Care staff has received the copies of the passports, they will email the patient’s medical visa invitation letter to them and the closest Indian embassy.

Your name as it appears on your passport with your passport numbers will be included in the medical invitation letter that we prepare for your visa. One letter of invitation will be adequate for the patient and the attendant. Patients from other countries are advised to print the document and bring the required documents when they visit the Indian consulate.

Patients should also remember to write down the date of their appointment at the nearby Indian Embassy. Usually, a 6-month visa is issued by the Indian embassy. In order to confirm the arrival date and time, patients are also asked to email their flight tickets.
